On March 10, Lubricant Company held exchange meetings successively with ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Company and with Malaysia's national oil company Petronas, and signed strategic cooperation framework agreements.

In 2008, PetroChina Lubricant Company sold 1.8 million tons of lubricants a year, accounting for 32 percent of the domestic lubricant market share, and sold 800,000 tons of packaged oil. Carrying out technical exchanges with well-known foreign oil companies and understanding the latest industry information has become an effective way for PetroChina to strengthen the strength of its lubricant business.
"Through exchanges with major foreign oil companies, we not only understand their companies' management structures and product characteristics, but more importantly we publicise ourselves. Many foreign companies do not know much about Kunlun lubricants, and exchanges like this provide a good platform for both sides to improve mutual understanding and also lay a good foundation for further contact and even cooperation between the two sides in the future," said Liao Guoqin, general manager of PetroChina Lubricant Company, when explaining the purpose of holding the exchange meetings.
As the largest oil company in the world today, ExxonMobil's lubricants and specialty oils company is also one of the top lubricant companies in the world today. ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Company and PetroChina Lubricant Company have already exchanged views many times and have cooperated in the field of resources. This time, the company's director George Andert introduced the current development situation of ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Company at the exchange meeting and expressed its intention to expand cooperation with PetroChina Lubricant Company.
Malaysia's national oil company Petronas is a world-class integrated oil and gas company. This was the first time for PetroChina Lubricant Company to cooperate with Malaysia's Petronas. Petronas attached great importance to this, and Joseph Rousmanieri, president of its base oil company, travelled specially to Beijing to sign a strategic cooperation framework agreement with PetroChina Lubricant Company.
Close cooperation with overseas companies has deepened the friendship between Lubricant Company and companies of various countries, while the signing of strategic cooperation framework agreements has also further expanded the fields of cooperation between the two sides. PetroChina Lubricant Company will rely on its local brand, resources, technology and marketing advantages to actively promote all-round in-depth cooperation with strategic partners, seek common development and open up an entirely new situation of win-win cooperation.
On the basis of cooperation with international lubricant companies, PetroChina Lubricant is actively carrying out overseas business, stepping up work in market development, sales network construction, brand promotion and talent team building. Kunlun lubricant export volumes have continued to maintain good growth momentum, exporting 20,000 tons in 2008; exports of transformer oil broke through 10,000 tons, and cooperation in marine lubricants with Maersk, Gulf Oil and Lukoil has continued to expand. Lubricant Company carried out vehicle lubricant promotional activities in Kazakhstan with marked results, with sales volume growing threefold, opening up a channel for vehicle lubricants to enter Central Asia.
