Lanzhou Industry and Commerce Bureau Shuts Down Counterfeit “Kunlun” Lubricant Workshop

On November 7, enforcement officers of the Economic Investigation Brigade of the Anning Branch of the Lanzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce received a citizen's report that someone was processing counterfeit "Kunlun" lubricant in a single-storey house in a small alley 200 metres south of the Wangfu Hotel in Liujiapu, Anning District. At 6 p.m., officers of the brigade shut down the counterfeiting den in a single operation.
At the scene, officers found 123 oil drums holding 170 kg each, one air compressor, one barrel of blue and white paint, five drums of lubricant, 160 "Kunlun" lubricant labels, four plastic stickers bearing the Kunlun lubricant trademark and three stencil plates. Reporters saw at the site that the workshop covered about 200 square metres, with three workers processing "Kunlun" steel drums. Later, in a room on the left side of the courtyard, reporters saw four oil filling nozzles stored inside. A citizen who declined to be named said that, based on her covert observation, the den had been producing counterfeit and substandard "Kunlun" lubricant for more than a year, processing, filling and selling at the same time, and had so far sold more than 1,000 drums of counterfeit Kunlun lubricant on the market.
According to officers of the Economic Investigation Brigade, when they arrived following the report they found finished and semi-finished products piled at the scene. All production tools and finished and semi-finished products have now been seized, and whether any finished oil reached the market is still under further investigation.
