Kunlun Grease Poised for Growth

Recently, with the completion of a series of mergers and acquisitions, Lubricant Company's strength in the grease field has continued to grow, laying the foundation for achieving coordinated development of the grease and oil businesses. To this end, the Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Center has actively responded to Lubricant Company's thinking on development in the grease field, actively stepping up investigation and research in grease-related areas and making positive preparations for the next stage of research and development work.
In July 2008, Wuxi PetroChina Grease Co., Ltd., a joint venture between PetroChina Lubricant Company and Wuxi Gaorunjie Chemical Co., Ltd., was formally established in Wuxi, further improving Lubricant Company's product structure. In April 2009, Lanzhou Petrochemical Company's grease and related businesses were also integrated into PetroChina Lubricant Company, further strengthening Lubricant Company's position in the grease field. These mergers and integrations conform to the development strategy of "five unifications and one centralisation" for the lubricant business, help give full play to advantages in resources, technology, talent and brand, and promote the coordinated development of the lubricant business as a whole.
Around Lubricant Company's thinking on development in the lubricant field, the Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Center will strictly implement the spirit of the company's work conference and, closely centering on the overall requirements of "firm up confidence, consolidate the foundation and strengthen the base, optimise and improve," has proposed to "open up two lines, build two bases, do well in one key laboratory and speed up development in two research and development fields." Speeding up development in the two research and development fields includes stepping up research and development work in the grease field.
In addition, the Lanzhou R&D Center has also carried out research in grease-related areas, conducting in-depth investigation into the current state, trends and manufacturers of grease development at home and abroad, actively taking part in meetings held by the China Grease Association, introducing grease performance evaluation equipment and carrying out basic research on high-performance lithium complex, polyurea and calcium sulfonate complex greases, laying a solid foundation for the next stage of grease research and development.
Recently, a seminar on grease research and development strategy was held at the Lanzhou Lubricant R&D Center. Company Deputy Chief Engineer Yang Junjie, China Grease Association expert Zhu Tingbin, Li Renxiang and Wang Xunshi of Wuxi PetroChina Grease Co., Ltd., and center leaders including Fu Xisheng, director of the Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Center, along with the grease research task group and other relevant personnel, attended this exchange meeting. Through the exchange, everyone gained a clearer understanding of grease development, strengthened key technologies in related fields and clarified the development thinking for grease in the near term and over a longer period, the topics to be tackled as priorities, and the future direction of development and goals.
Under clear development thinking and a well-developed strategic approach, the company's research and development forces, sales companies and production departments will work closely together and develop hand in hand, which will certainly make PetroChina Lubricant Company's grease business bigger and stronger.
