The China Lubrication Technology Forum (2017) Grandly Opens

Upholding extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, carrying forward the petroleum spirit, raising the level of lubrication in China and jointly advancing "Created in China". Held under the theme "Opportunities and Challenges of Long Oil Drain Intervals", the China Lubrication Technology Forum (2017) grandly opened on September 13, 2017 in the spring city of Kunming, attracting more than 300 delegates from relevant national ministries and commissions, related industry societies, domestic and international lubricant companies, automakers, equipment manufacturers, and well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad.
The annual China Lubrication Technology Forum is organized by Lubricants magazine, which is supervised by PetroChina's lubricant company, and aims to focus on technology trends, tap cooperation value, jointly pursue sustainable development and serve "Made in China".
Xiao Hongwei, General Manager and Party Committee Secretary of PetroChina's lubricant company, attended the forum and spoke at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese economy has entered a new normal and is transforming from "Made in China" to "Created in China". In this process, the lubricant industry, which serves equipment, must focus on customers' real and potential needs; at present these are innovation in Chinese lubricant standards, extending equipment oil drain intervals and providing lubrication services for emerging equipment such as robots.
As a leading state-owned enterprise, Kunlun Lubricants has, since its founding in 2000, consistently fulfilled its mission of raising the level of lubrication in China and sought to build a lubricant brand of "military-grade quality, a great power's key equipment". To this end, Kunlun Lubricants this year put forward the three positioning pillars of "R&D, service and brand" and a "3369" development blueprint for the next 5 to 10 years.
Xiao Hongwei said that in serving the new normal of lubrication, Kunlun Lubricants actively supports the establishment of the China Diesel Engine Oil Standard Innovation Alliance and was the first to launch long-life lubricants for commercial vehicles covering 100,000 to 120,000 kilometres as well as robot lubricating grease, making a due contribution to raising the level of lubrication in China.
"A single flower does not make spring; a hundred flowers blooming together bring spring to the whole garden." In order to realize the two strategic plans of "Made in China 2025" and Industry 4.0 as early as possible and comprehensively improve the development quality and level of China's lubricant industry, Xiao Hongwei put forward "three needs": first, the entire lubricant and additive industry needs to work with one heart and compete and cooperate in a regulated way; second, customer industries need to put forward their real needs and opportunities for application; and third, institutions of higher learning and research institutes need to contribute new ideas and creativity. This is also the starting point for Kunlun Lubricants' ongoing commitment to building the China Lubrication Technology Forum into an exchange platform of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits".
The China Lubrication Technology Forum has weathered 30 years, witnessing the development of China's lubricant industry from simply developing oils that meet specifications to all-round customized development for customers and equipment, and in technical specifications from simulation and imitation to independent establishment, and it has now become a weather vane for the development of lubrication technology in China.
Xiao Hongwei said that the forum's success cannot be separated from everyone's support, and he thanked the well-known domestic and international companies that have supported the forum over the years – Infineum, Evonik Industries, Ruifeng New Materials, Tianhe Chemical Group, Lubrizol, Afton, Chevron Oronite, Lanxess, Vanderbilt, the SI Group, Solutia Belgium and BASF – as well as experts from FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, JAC, the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines and the Society of Automotive Engineers of China for their guidance. Kunlun Lubricants will, as always, persist in running the forum on a non-commercial basis and at a high technical level, carefully nurturing the interactive exchange platform for lubrication and related industries and achieving mutual benefit, win-win results and joint development.
During the forum, Xiao Hongwei held talks on lubrication technology with Aldo Govi, Global Sales Vice President of Infineum, and Wang Renlong, General Manager of Greater China for Evonik's Oil Additives business, and the two sides held in-depth discussions on the next stage of technical exchange, business cooperation and win-win development.
Yang Junjie, Deputy Chief Engineer of PetroChina's lubricant company, chaired the China Lubrication Technology Forum (2017). Professor Qu of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Michael Anderson of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, Li Wanying of the Sinopec Lubricant Co., Ltd. Beijing R&D Center, Meng Qi of Infineum (Shanghai) Additives Co., Ltd., Li Liguang of Tongji University and Chen Gang of Chevron Oronite (Beijing) International Trading Co., Ltd. gave excellent presentations on lubricants and related industries.
