Going All Out to Guarantee Supply to Maohua

For a long time the Karamay Plant of Kunlun Lubricant has always upheld the concept of guaranteeing the supply security of VIC and OEM customers as its first priority. Sinopec Maoming Branch (hereafter Maoming Petrochemical) is one of China's largest petrochemical production bases and also one of the Lubricant Company's VIC customers. Since KN4010 rubber oil was first put into operation it has maintained a long-term stable cooperative relationship with the Karamay Plant. KN4010 rubber oil is mainly used in the company's production of oil-extended SBS, with average monthly demand of about 2,000 tons.
Under the unified arrangements and deployment of the Lubricant Company, the Karamay Plant together with the Central South Branch has maintained a full range of high-quality service levels in production, sales, dispatch and after-sales service ever since the cooperation began.
Anticipating what the customer thinks and sharing the customer's worries is the purpose of our service. For VIC and OEM customers the Karamay Plant communicates regularly and confirms oil consumption and inventory at the customer end to ensure the customer's normal use. The Karamay Plant noticed that heavy rainfall in the south had seriously blocked freight along the railway, increasing the uncertainties of rail transport, so that products in transit could not arrive in time and unpredictability increased, while Maoming Petrochemical's inventory was being drawn down. The KN4010 rubber oil successively dispatched to Maoming from June 19 had still not reached Maoming by July 8, and the earliest it was expected to arrive was July 13, while on July 8 Maoming Petrochemical's inventory was only 800 tons, enough for only eight days of use. If supply relied on rail transport alone it would face layer upon layer of difficulties and simply could not solve the urgent shortage caused by the fall in Maoming Petrochemical's inventory.
The customer's need is our mission, and the customer's satisfaction is our goal. The Karamay Plant immediately launched its emergency supply plan to ensure Maoming Petrochemical's normal production needs. On the one hand the Karamay Plant made clear its position to Maoming Petrochemical: go all out to guarantee Maohua's production and never let Maohua be cut off from supply or stop production; on the other hand it immediately reported the situation to the company's competent department, and under the company's coordination and arrangements it advanced on several fronts and launched the supply guarantee battle. At the same time, to express the attitude and determination of the whole company in guaranteeing supply, the Central South Branch quickly sent a special person to Maoming Petrochemical to coordinate, achieving a multi-party linkage of production, sales and service and ensuring the timely communication of supply information.
First, the Karamay Plant launched emergency road transport to ease the tense inventory situation at Maoming Petrochemical. On July 8 it discussed with the road carrier company and confirmed the dispatch plan: urgently dispatch 22 tank trucks in three batches, one batch every other day. On receiving the plan the carrier company immediately completed the inspection and maintenance of the 22 vehicles overnight before departure, and the next day the packaging workshop concentrated its staff on overtime, uninterrupted filling of the oil; by midday on July 9 the first batch of vehicles fully loaded with rubber oil had set off from Karamay for Maoming Petrochemical, 5,000 kilometers away. To ensure safe driving and speed, the Karamay Plant also assigned a special person to escort the vehicles in person and give feedback on information along the way every four hours. From launching the plan to the oil leaving the plant took less than 24 hours! From July 9 to July 15, 600 tons of rubber oil crossed more than half of China and all arrived at Maohua, and Maoming Petrochemical's inventory recovered to 1,230 tons, winning precious time for production supply and easing the urgent need.
At the same time, considering that the southern floods also had an uncertain impact on road transport, and to genuinely guarantee Maohua's normal production oil use, the Karamay Plant coordinated in advance and requisitioned 200 tons of oil products from social channels in Guangdong, which were delivered to Maohua one after another from July 10, strengthening Maoming Petrochemical's confidence in normal production. In addition, to shorten rail transport time, our plant shifted rail transport from Kebei Station to Kuitun Station, saving nearly seven days for subsequent delivery guarantees!
To guarantee the continuous supply of oil products to Maoming Petrochemical, the Karamay Plant strengthened contact and communication with the relevant railway departments and established a dynamic table of rail dispatch and arrival, paying close attention to the operation of trains in transit and tracking and implementing dynamic information on arrivals along the line; a special person is responsible for maintaining linkage with Maohua and the Central South Branch at least three times a day, communicating promptly, keeping track of Maoming Petrochemical's daily inventory, reporting daily on the operation of trains in transit and reporting the progress of the supply guarantee to the company's competent department on time every day, adjusting dispatch plans promptly according to different circumstances and flexibly deploying and arranging the next stage of work.
In addition, according to the latest information provided by the railway authorities, rail transport is gradually returning to normal. As of the date of publication, Maoming Petrochemical's July plan of 3,500 tons had been fully executed with 1,500 tons delivered, and 1,300 tons were expected to arrive one after another within three to six days. At present Maoming Petrochemical's inventory has reached the safe operating standard, and the tense situation in inventory and dispatch has been effectively resolved.
The rapid and efficient supply guarantee action won high recognition and praise from Maoming Petrochemical. On July 19 the company's leaders made a special trip to the plant to inspect it and expressed heartfelt thanks for the unremitting efforts of the Karamay Plant, as well as their determination to cooperate firmly. Fierce winds and torrential rain have tempered the crisp action of Kunlun people, and calm and orderly conduct demonstrates the strong strength of the Kunlun brand; the Karamay Plant will continue to make its due contribution to the development of the Lubricant Company with first-class quality and service!
