Today, the development trend in lubricant products is to extend oil drain intervals and improve fuel economy. Adding friction modifiers can form physical or chemical adsorption films on friction surfaces, improve the lubrication of friction pairs, effectively reduce mechanical friction and wear, and lower energy consumption.
To meet increasingly stringent fuel economy targets, the Kunlun Lubricant Lanzhou Lubricant R&D Center has independently developed a new boron-nitrogen friction modifier. Through molecular design, it effectively solves the hydrolytic stability problem of borate esters by forming intramolecular coordination bonds. The additive uses vegetable oil as raw material, is biodegradable and environmentally friendly, and a patent has been filed for it.
The product has excellent oil solubility and shows good anti-wear and friction-reducing effects in all types of base oils. When added to finished oil, it has no adverse effect on the physical and chemical properties of the oil while significantly reducing its friction coefficient, and it markedly improves fuel economy. Scanning electron microscope observations show that the product can greatly reduce plastic deformation and fatigue wear at friction surfaces, while X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis indicates that the product adsorbs on friction surfaces to form a boron-containing lubricating film that delivers good anti-wear and friction-reducing effects. In addition, the product has a good antioxidant synergy with amine antioxidants and offers a certain degree of rust protection.
