Wang Bin: A Leader in the Workshop

Wang Bin is currently director of the packaging facility at the Dalian Lubricant Plant. Over the past few years he has led the workshop's employees in firmly establishing quality and safety awareness, and despite an ever-increasing workload he has completed all tasks safely with guaranteed quality and quantity, working hard for the Dalian Plant to break through on profitability.
As director of the facility, Wang Bin is well aware that to forge iron one must be strong oneself: he is the first to observe rules and regulations and the first to take on the hardest and dirtiest work. The packaging facility is located in a low-lying area of the Dagang petrochemical site, where heavy rains cause flooding. When this first happened, Comrade Wang Bin took the lead, disregarding the pouring rain, clearing the blocked drains in the downpour and rescuing collective materials, fearing neither hardship nor fatigue. After the rain, Wang Bin convened a meeting of the management staff to discuss solutions to water accumulation on rainy days and proposed measures that eliminated the hazard completely. Dalian is a snowy place and it snows many times every winter; every time it snowed, Comrade Wang Bin was the first to arrive and actively organized snow clearing. Moved and inspired by him, the packaging employees have come to treat snowfall as an order: whenever the snow stops they come to the plant to clear it as soon as possible. In strictly enforcing rules and regulations, Wang Bin does not fear offending people at work. Once he found an employee with whom he was on good personal terms taking a shower during working hours; he criticized him on the spot and assessed him strictly according to the facility's assessment rules, then afterwards talked with him, reasoning with him and explaining the consequences, so that he deeply recognized his mistake and willingly accepted the assessment.
At work Wang Bin is boldly innovative rather than conventional, and has carried out many technical modifications, contributing ideas to the packaging process and equipment technical improvement projects. Over the years, many packaging technical improvement projects - such as the device to reject missing drums, the alarm and counting device, and quick couplings for process pipelines - were boldly proposed by him and ultimately put into practice in light of actual conditions. In December 2013 the Dalian Plant took over the Qianyan branch plant and entrusted the earlier modification work to Wang Bin. On receiving the task he immediately organized personnel to draw up a plan, personally took part in every step of the modification, actively put forward rationalization proposals, established and improved rules and regulations, and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the work. Because he also had to look after production at the plant's packaging facility, Wang Bin gave up his Saturdays and Sundays entirely. Under his leadership the Qianyan plant modification progressed smoothly and in only a month and a half the site had the basic conditions for filling, with a successful first trial run and filling production achieved ahead of schedule. During the subsequent blending system modification, Wang Bin personally led a team to develop a pulse blending system, which was put into use after two months and ran well. The pulse blending system uses self-written programs and saved the enterprise about 100,000 yuan on this item alone; electrical components were purchased and assembled in-house, saving about 200,000 yuan, truly achieving both technical innovation and cost reduction.
When taking over the Qianyan branch plant, 21 of its 37 employees were disabled. For these employees with intellectual disabilities, hearing and speech impairments or physical disabilities, Wang Bin gained a detailed understanding of each person's circumstances, held targeted heart-to-heart talks, actively sought solutions and did a solid job in the ideological and political work of the incoming employees, maintaining team stability and making an outstanding contribution to the company's stability. At present the Qianyan plant operates well and plays a positive supporting role in the Dalian Plant's production.
