Kunlun Lubricant Company and Dalian Maritime University Launch Industry-University-Research Cooperation

The launch ceremony for "industry-university-research cooperation" between PetroChina Lubricant Company and Dalian Maritime University was grandly held at the Dalian International Conference Center on November 5, 2010. Guests attending the ceremony included Liao Guoqin, General Manager of PetroChina Lubricant Company; Wang Zuwen, President of Dalian Maritime University; and Ralph Klaunig, General Manager of MAN China.

At the launch ceremony, Mr. Liao and President Wang jointly signed the "Industry-University-Research Framework Cooperation Agreement," deciding that the two sides would carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation. The first task under the framework agreement was for the Dalian Lubricant Research and Development Center and Dalian Maritime University to jointly establish a "Joint Laboratory for Marine Oil Evaluation," drawing on the university's "onshore engine room laboratory" and leveraging the strengths of both sides. Mr. Liao and President Wang jointly unveiled the "Joint Laboratory for Marine Oil Evaluation." Zhao Youtao, Dean of the Marine Engineering College of Dalian Maritime University, and Zhai Yuekui, Director of the Dalian Lubricant R&D Center, jointly signed the "Charter of the Joint Laboratory," which sets out the cooperation directions and operating rules of the joint laboratory. Wu Xiaoguang, Senior Chief Engineer of the Marine Engineering College of Dalian Maritime University, and Yu Jun, Deputy Director of the Dalian Lubricant R&D Center, jointly signed the "Technical Agreement on the Development of Evaluation Methods for Low-Speed Marine Engine Oils." This agreement covers the first project to be carried out after the establishment of the joint laboratory, with the main goal of establishing a full-scale engine bench evaluation method for low-speed marine engine oils.

The launch ceremony was hosted by Chi Fuping, Party Committee Secretary of the Dalian Lubricant R&D Center. At the ceremony, Ms. Liao Guoqin, General Manager of Kunlun Lubricant, said: "Technological innovation is the eternal driving force of enterprise development, and Kunlun Lubricant Company attaches great importance to cooperation with research institutes and universities. We hope both sides can bring their respective strengths into play in this cooperation and achieve win-win results while continuously raising the level of innovation and quality." President Wang spoke highly of Kunlun Lubricant Company, saying: "The university is willing to cooperate with enterprises and institutions to translate technological achievements into real productivity." He also expressed the hope of carrying out broader cooperation with Kunlun Lubricant Company in the future in areas such as resource sharing, talent development, student internships and student employment.
The signing of the "Industry-University-Research Framework Cooperation Agreement" will open the prelude to in-depth cooperation between PetroChina Lubricant Company and Dalian Maritime University. The establishment of the Joint Laboratory for Marine Oil Evaluation will enable both sides to share resources and improve together, while the "Development of Evaluation Methods for Low-Speed Marine Engine Oils" project puts the cooperation into concrete practice. Officials from both PetroChina Lubricant Company and Dalian Maritime University said after the meeting that the two sides will work together to make greater contributions to raising the level of domestic marine oil.
