At around 13:00 on the afternoon of the 14th, the starting ceremony of the “2018 Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge” officially began. The image ambassador of the King of Racing Challenge, Pan Xiaoting, dressed in “battle attire,” together with Pang Zhongmin, general manager of PetroChina Lubricant Nanjing Sales Branch, waved the flag to start the race, igniting the enthusiasm of the media and spectators present. Seizing the top honor: a Nanjing driver takes the laurels at Dafeng
Challenging limits is a belief rooted in human instinct, and racing drivers are among the most steadfast believers in challenging speed. The Yancheng (Dafeng) round set up two speed events: a 0–400 meter straight-line acceleration race and a comprehensive circuit race. Both are timed sprint races; competitors compete in the order of their drawn numbers, each with two chances and the single fastest result recorded. Finally, the results of the two events are added together for an overall ranking, with the shortest total time winning.
The 0–400 meter straight-line acceleration race was the perfect arena for “speed” at Dafeng. When the start signal lit up, the cars shot out like arrows from a bow, throttles floored and gears shifted rapidly in succession… the roaring cars rushed past with powerful waves of air that set the flags on both sides of the track flapping loudly. The track filled with the roar of engines instantly made this autumn hot, and gave these 10 elite drivers from across the country a deeper understanding of challenging the limits of control.

Faster, higher, stronger — every brave person keeps testing their possibilities. The comprehensive circuit race after the rain placed higher demands on the drivers’ control ability and the cars’ performance state; drivers had not only to pass quickly through four consecutive S-shaped corners on a slippery surface, but also to avoid hitting the closely spaced cones. In the last few small-radius consecutive direction changes, some drivers skidded while cornering at speed, their tires almost grazing the cones — the breathtaking competition left the audience gasping again and again.

After fierce competition in the two events, Wu Yachao from Nanjing, Guo Nan from Beijing and Lu Wei from Suzhou took the champion, runner-up and third place with times of 1 minute 35.06 seconds, 1 minute 36.59 seconds and 1 minute 38.34 seconds respectively. Wang Wei, manager of the Marketing Department of PetroChina Lubricant Company, presented them with trophies and garlands. The three winners not only received a 888-yuan Kunlun Lubricant care gift package, but also took a commemorative photo with event image ambassador Pan Xiaoting. In addition, the round champion and “Kunlun King of Racing” Wu Yachao also received a commemorative race helmet autographed by Pan Xiaoting.
