North China Lubricant Sales Branch Conducts Successful Anti-Counterfeiting Campaign at Shijiazhuang Auto Parts Market in Hebei

Recently, staff of Kunlun Lubricant's North China Sales Branch identified counterfeit Kunlun lubricant products such as "Kunlun Tianshan" and "PetroChina Classic Series" in Shijiazhuang and surrounding markets in Hebei Province, which were disrupting the market for genuine Kunlun lubricants. Branch leaders attached great importance to this and quickly arranged personnel to investigate the peripheral market. Through overt and covert inquiries, they finally pinpointed the main source of the infringing products - three stores in the Shijiazhuang North Auto Parts City.
Shijiazhuang North Auto Parts City is one of the largest auto parts markets in North China, with more than 200 merchants and annual transactions exceeding 1 billion yuan, reaching the entire North China region. Leaders of the North China Branch decided to carry out a special anti-counterfeiting campaign in this market.
Building on earlier communications, on the afternoon of July 8, 2010, 13 law enforcement officers from the Shijiazhuang Administration for Industry and Commerce and its subordinate transport sub-bureau, together with two police officers, were divided into three teams under the guidance of the branch's anti-counterfeiting staff and conducted surprise inspections of three stores selling counterfeit products and their warehouses in North Auto Parts City.
Because preparations were thorough and confidentiality was well maintained, operators had no time to move the infringing oils when enforcement officers suddenly entered the stores for inspection. During enforcement, two operators tried to prevent the anti-counterfeiting staff from identifying the infringing products and produced forged faxed "certificates" from China National Petroleum Corporation and its listed company, falsely claiming that the products they sold were legitimately authorized. After the branch's anti-counterfeiting staff explained the situation and issued warnings on the spot, the unlawful operators had no arguments left and had to cooperate with enforcement.
In this operation, a total of 703 pieces (drums) of oils suspected of infringement - including "Kunlun Tianshan," "PetroChina Classic Series" and "Lanlian" products bearing the "Gem Flower" and "PetroChina" marks - were seized at the three stores: 228 cases in 4L packaging, 466 drums in 18L packaging and 9 drums in 170kg packaging, totaling 13.8 tonnes. The Administration for Industry and Commerce sealed the counterfeit products seized.
This successful special anti-counterfeiting operation deterred counterfeit Kunlun oil sellers in North Auto Parts City and neighboring counties and cities, cleaned up the oil trading environment in the Shijiazhuang area, and protected and defended the rights and interests of consumers.
