Several Principal Technical Projects at the Karamay Lubricant Plant Enter the Installation and Commissioning Stage

Recently, all of the pigging pipelines of the pigging system at the Karamay Lubricant Plant have been laid and welded. At present, technical personnel from the US company FMC are providing on-site guidance, with Karamay Antai Company undertaking the construction, and work is proceeding in a tense and orderly manner on the installation of the pigging pipeline system and the SMB and ABB systems, the commissioning of instruments and meters such as automatic control valves, and the assembly of three-way valves and accessories at the 138 intermediate stations of the pigging pipeline system. It is expected that the installation and commissioning of the pigging system, the SMB system and the ABB system and related work will be completed in the first half of 2009.

The pigging system, the SMB system and the ABB system are the principal technical projects of the Karamay Lubricant Plant's supporting renovation and expansion for 600,000 tons per year of lubricants, and the systems were introduced from the US company FMC. At the end of September 2008, related equipment for the pigging system and the SMB system arrived at the Karamay Lubricant Plant one after another; from October 2008 work began on laying the gantry frames for the pigging pipelines and welding pipelines in the finished oil tank farm, and in early March 2009 the pipeline welding stage of the pigging pipeline system was completed. After the renovation and expansion construction is finished, trial operation will be carried out in the second half of 2009. By then, the Karamay Lubricant Plant will be able to carry out new-process production and processing of three major categories of oil products: rubber oil, transformer oil and refrigeration oil.
