As an important part of PetroChina, Kunlun Lubricant has shouldered the mission of lubricating Chinese industry and refuelling China's economy ever since it produced New China's first drop of domestic lubricating oil in 1950. With sixty years of independent research and development behind it, it has won every national-level award in the lubricant industry since its founding. New China's first drop of lubricating oil, its first additive and its first lubricating grease all came from Kunlun Lubricant: it fuelled the first Hongqi car and Dongfeng trucks, was repeatedly the designated oil for National Day parades, supplied oil to Antarctic research stations, and supplied military oil as the full-vessel supporting oil for the first domestically built aircraft carrier; its transformer oil became the only designated oil for the world's first plus/minus 1,100 kV power transmission project, and its high-speed rail gear oil filled a domestic gap, with the "Fuxing" high-speed train sets filled with Kunlun lubricating oil now speeding across the country. At important milestones in New China's development, Kunlun Lubricant has continuously contributed its strength.

As the "first calling card" of China's high-end manufacturing going global, China's high-speed rail carries the important task of leading China's real-economy manufacturing from "big to strong" and "to the world"; through China's high-speed rail, Kunlun Lubricant hopes to show its profound brand heritage, independent R&D strength and outstanding achievements.
Strength and commitment: a Chinese brand safeguarding Chinese speed
In the early stage of the development of China's high-speed rail, the gearbox oils used on the trains were all foreign oils, and China was long constrained by others in this technical field. Kunlun Lubricant, which has safeguarded the development of New China's industry all along, stepped forward, and after unremitting efforts finally succeeded in developing the relevant products and technologies, enabling this "Chinese calling card" to use Chinese oils and filling a domestic gap. Kunlun Lubricant's project "Extreme-pressure anti-wear additives for gear oils, composite agent preparation technology and industrial application" won the only award in the domestic lubrication field, a 2009 National Technological Invention Award (second class), and PetroChina's Kunlun gear oil became the first gear oil product supporting the "Fuxing", a Chinese-standard high-speed train set with fully independent intellectual property rights that has reached the world's advanced level, breaking the situation in which foreign oils monopolised high-speed rail gearboxes and providing technical support for China's high-speed rail to take part in international bidding.
It was put into use on high-speed trains such as the Fuxing and the Blue Dolphin from 2016; in 2018 it supplied gearbox lubricants for long-formation Fuxing train sets. At present, 80% of the gearboxes of Fuxing trains on the Beijing-Shanghai line are filled with Kunlun lubricating oil, which is the best proof of the convincing strength of Kunlun Lubricant's technology.
