Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is about to issue the Measures for Accounting the Average Fuel Consumption of Passenger Vehicle Enterprises. The move aims to establish a long-term mechanism for energy-saving management of automotive products, continuously improve the reward-and-penalty policy system based on vehicle fuel consumption levels, and implement a management system for the average fuel consumption of enterprises. MIIT's designated introduction of the Measures is intended to achieve the effect of “promoting automakers' attention to energy conservation and emissions reduction from the source,” and how to achieve green environmental protection and reduce vehicle fuel consumption will certainly spark heated discussion among the media and enterprises.
Some industry experts believe that in recent years China's auto industry has grown rapidly, ranking first in the world in both production and sales for two consecutive years, closely tied to the rapid progress of domestic independent-brand engine technology. As the blood flowing through the “engine,” the heart of a car, lubricants play important roles such as reducing friction and wear, cooling, cleaning, sealing against leaks, rust and corrosion prevention, and shock cushioning. The industry has therefore shifted its focus to lubricant quality, placing higher demands especially on energy saving and consumption reduction.
“At present, China has become the world's second-largest producer and consumer of lubricants. The rapid progress of the auto industry and the development of energy conservation, emissions reduction and the low-carbon economy have all set new requirements for the future development of the lubricant industry,” pointed out Liao Guoqin, General Manager of PetroChina Lubricant Company. He noted that 2012 would usher in a year of green transformation for the lubricant industry, making rational lubrication the general trend. At this juncture, Kunlun Lubricants took the lead in proposing “rational lubrication,” committed to developing lubricant products suited to Chinese road and vehicle conditions, promoting the energy-saving industry, and helping China's auto industry achieve green transformation.

In 2012, Kunlun Lubricants will promote the rational oil-use concept in various ways. First, by supporting the Formula Student China competition throughout and the “China Heart” Top Ten Engines selection, two major platforms, it will send lubrication experts from the Kunlun Lubricants R&D center into campuses to explain rational lubrication knowledge to students; in addition, Kunlun Lubricants will upgrade its official website and open a microblog to communicate directly with consumers, promoting knowledge of scientific oil selection and use, so as to encourage consumers to change their lubrication concepts and methods and thereby advance the industry's green development.
For a long time, as a leading brand in the lubricant industry, Kunlun Lubricants has been consumer-demand oriented, persisting in advocating the oil-use concepts of “rational oil use” and “rational lubrication,” promoting “maintenance instead of repair,” and dedicated to spreading professional lubrication concepts. At present, the Society of Automotive Engineers of China is organizing the formulation of guidelines for passenger vehicle lubrication, which are being drafted by PetroChina Kunlun Lubricant Company; the introduction of these guidelines will also greatly advance the popularization and promotion of the concepts of scientific and rational oil use among passenger vehicle users.
Liao Guoqin, General Manager of PetroChina Lubricant Company, said that in the future Kunlun Lubricants will, in response to market needs, accelerate the adjustment of its product structure and service methods, promote the renewal of lubrication concepts and the transformation of lubrication methods across the industry, meet the real needs of the healthy development of China's auto industry, and, as always, focus on lubricant R&D, continuing to explore China's own oil-use standards for vehicle lubricants, targeting the green transformation of the auto industry.
