Kunlun Experts Visit Jilin University, Championing Rational Lubrication on Campus

On July 7, the organizing committee of the Kunlun Lubricant Cup China Heart 2011 Top Ten Engines selection launched the fourth stop of its campus tour. Several representatives of the selection committee and expert engineers from Kunlun Lubricant jointly visited the College of Automotive Engineering of Jilin University, bringing the students a fascinating lecture on engine manufacturing and the professional selection of lubricants. The rational lubrication concept advocated by Kunlun Lubricant also won unanimous recognition from the teachers and students of the college.

It is understood that the China Heart Top Ten Engines selection, launched in 2006, aims to promote the development of China's engine and automotive industries and has selected a large number of outstanding engines, fully demonstrating the R&D strength and technological progress of domestic engine manufacturers in recent years. The campus tour series is an important part of the selection, intended to create a platform through which university students can learn about the technological development of engines and lubricants. As a leading enterprise in China's lubricant industry, PetroChina Lubricant Company has supported the China Heart Top Ten Engines selection throughout for two consecutive years and has sent engineers from the front line of lubricant R&D to campuses to guide students in the professional selection of engine lubricants.

At this campus event at Jilin University, students of the College of Automotive Engineering listened carefully to an introduction to the China Heart Top Ten Engines selection. Engineer Chen Gang from PetroChina Lubricant Company gave a special lecture on site, explaining the working principles and functions of lubricants in engine operation and highlighting how to select a suitable lubricant. Engineer Chen Gang said that lubricant standards differ from country to country, and the root cause lies in differences in vehicle and road conditions; therefore Kunlun Lubricant advocates the principle of rational lubrication and has long been committed to developing lubricant products suited to Chinese road and vehicle conditions. In 2010, Kunlun Lubricant led the launch of China's first Commercial Vehicle Lubrication Guidelines, filling the gap whereby technicians engaged in commercial vehicle production and maintenance, as well as commercial vehicle users, had no scientific basis for correctly selecting lubricants, and making an important contribution to the take-off of China's automotive industry.

Engineer Chen Gang's excellent lecture drew rounds of applause from the representatives of the selection committee and the teachers and students of Jilin University. Students of the College of Automotive Engineering said that, because the university does not offer a dedicated lubricant course, the excellent explanations given by experts from the front line of Kunlun Lubricant's R&D greatly broadened their horizons and gave them a deeper understanding of engine lubricants, and they hoped that Kunlun Lubricant's R&D engineers would visit the school again to bring them more guidance and help.

Up to now, the campus tour of the Kunlun Lubricant Cup China Heart 2011 Top Ten Engines selection has been held successively at Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Jilin University. Engineers from Kunlun Lubricant's Lanzhou Research Center took part in the whole campus tour this year, bringing professional lectures on lubricant knowledge to students at a number of universities. A representative of the China Heart engine selection committee said that the last stop of the campus tour would be Tianjin University.
