Strengthening Technical Service and Fostering Positive Interaction: Kunlun Conducts Technical Service Tour Along the Yellow River Hydropower Stations

On July 11, 2010, a delegation from the Northwest Lubricant Sales Branch, the Lanzhou Lubricant Plant and the lubricant distribution company of PetroChina Qinghai Sales Branch traveled to Qinghai and visited the Laxiwa, Longyangxia and Lijiaxia hydropower stations along the upper reaches of the Yellow River, bringing Kunlun's technical service and Kunlun's "care" to these "pearls of the Yellow River" on the high plateau.
The upper reaches of the Yellow River currently host large and medium-sized hydropower stations including Longyangxia, Laxiwa, Lijiaxia, Gongboxia, Suzhi, Yanguoxia, Bapanxia, Qingtongxia, Jishixia and Banduo, with an installed capacity of 8.7 million kW and annual power generation of 27.2 billion kWh. At present, all of these hydropower stations on the upper Yellow River use Kunlun TSA46, 25# and 45# transformer oils.
During this Yellow River hydropower visit, Kunlun called on the principal leaders and production technical officers of these stations and learned about the use of Kunlun oils at these hydropower stations. Kunlun Lubricant staff learned that Kunlun oils have performed outstandingly with impressive quality at these "pearls of the Yellow River": at the Longyangxia Hydropower Station, which began generating power in 1987, the 25# transformer oil from the Karamay plant has been in use for 23 years and is still clear and transparent, fully compliant; at the Lijiaxia Hydropower Station, the Lanzhou refinery's Flying Apsaras TSA46 (a predecessor of Kunlun Lubricant) filled in 1997 has not been replaced to date, only topped up as needed, and has passed every maintenance inspection as fully compliant. Faced with this, both the user units and the Kunlun people feel immensely proud of the "Gem Flower."
During this trip, Kunlun Lubricant technicians also took oil samples from each hydropower station and brought them back to the Lanzhou Lubricant Plant for indicator testing. For the Laxiwa Hydropower Station, which is using Kunlun TSA46 (after acid value adjustment) for the first time, Kunlun technicians will take oil samples from five working faces during the August maintenance shutdown.
This trip to the upper reaches of the Yellow River demonstrated Kunlun's well-rounded technical service, built a "bridge" linking Yellow River hydropower with Kunlun's production and sales departments, and created positive interaction between Kunlun and the hydropower stations along the upper Yellow River. At the same time, it highlighted Kunlun's strong advantage of integrated production, research and sales, which is of great significance for enhancing the brand effect of Kunlun Lubricant.
