Pan Xiaoting to Become the “Goddess of Ice and Snow” and Support the Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge

“My life is not only about billiards; I prefer to take on sports dominated by men.” As China’s first world billiards champion and a holder of the record of 10 nine-ball world titles, Pan Xiaoting conquered the billiards world with her skill. When people think of Pan Xiaoting, the legend of the “nine-ball queen” and the image of her commanding the billiards table come to mind at once. But today, Muay Thai, racing cars… her figure appears more and more often at other sports competitions, and the field she is involved in most is motor racing.
On December 7–8, the closing battle of the “Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 China Car Performance Competition” (CCPC) will begin; Pan Xiaoting, as the image ambassador of the Group K “Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge,” will appear in Yakeshi to cheer on the drivers and witness this “speed and passion” ice-and-snow feast. Meanwhile the 15 grassroots drivers who passed round after round of selection for the “Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge” will once again fight fiercely for the King of Racing crown.
Helping grassroots drivers realize their dreams: the “nine-ball queen” takes the stage to cheer
In July and September this year, Pan Xiaoting transformed into a “female war god,” cheering on the drivers at the Karamay and Dafeng rounds. As a passionate motorsport enthusiast, Pan Xiaoting is highly renowned in China’s motor racing field; according to earlier media reports, she once competed on the same track as F1 driver Vettel and Jimmy Lin and completed the challenge with a perfect “zero-error” result. Her positive, stylish, healthy image and her sportsmanship of daring to take on challenges fully embody the positioning and philosophy of this Kunlun King of Racing Challenge, and this in-depth cooperation between the two sides will surely lift both their images and their development to a new height.
Speaking of billiards and motor racing, two completely different sports, Pan Xiaoting said frankly that her passion for racing events makes up for a childhood regret: “I have always liked sports dominated by men; perhaps I have a challenging spirit in my bones. Playing billiards requires a calm mindset, while racing demands speed and passion, and at the same time you must keep yourself calm and operate delicately — the two actually have something in common. I hope that through the Kunlun King of Racing Challenge we can influence more ordinary people who have racing dreams, so that they can challenge themselves amid passion and calm and realize their dreams.”
Supporting the “Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge” this time as its image ambassador, Pan Xiaoting said: “The Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge is a rare platform in China, and serving as its image ambassador means a great deal to me. I hope this will be the second most important thing for me besides billiards recently, and I also hope more friends who love motorsport will join us and pass on this automotive culture.”
Promoting automotive culture: CCPC narrows the distance between the professional and the grassroots
The Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge is a “Group K” event newly added by the 2017 CCPC, aimed at providing ordinary people with racing dreams a professional platform on which to express themselves in a variety of complex environments — the high-temperature gobi, extreme road conditions and extremely cold snow. From 2015 to 2017, as the CCPC expanded rapidly in scale and influence, the newly added Group K — the Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge — is no longer simply a traditional speed contest; it has achieved a landmark leap of China’s grassroots racing culture from 0 to 1.
It is reported that in the Yakeshi competition the Group K event will be divided into two forms of head-to-head competition (individual time trial and team duel); the natural multi-corner stage of severe cold, wind and snow at Shangfeng Lake of the CATARC proving ground will rigorously test the performance of production cars and even more the willpower of the 15 grassroots drivers.
Pan Xiaoting said that the thrill of racing lies not in its speed but in its corners: “The biggest challenge for a driver is judging speed on different road surfaces, especially on ice and snow; if you want to overtake, you have to rely on the corners.” Having long lived in the quiet world of nine-ball, Pan Xiaoting says she needs somewhere and some way to release the pressure of the arena.
It is easy to imagine that the superb driving skills displayed by the 15 “grassroots masters” in the hometown of ice and snow, together with the strong support of “nine-ball queen” Pan Xiaoting, will surely bring us an absolutely spectacular motorsport feast.
