Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology plans to issue the Measures for Calculating the Average Fuel Consumption of Passenger Vehicle Enterprises. This move aims to establish a long-term mechanism for energy-saving management of automotive products, continuously improve the policy system of rewards and penalties based on vehicle fuel consumption levels, and implement a management system for the average fuel consumption of enterprises. The Ministry's purpose in issuing the Measures is to achieve the effect of encouraging automotive enterprises to attach importance to energy conservation and emission reduction from the source, and how to achieve environmental protection and reduce vehicle fuel consumption will certainly trigger heated discussion among the media and enterprises.

Some industry experts believe that the rapid development of China's automotive industry in recent years, ranking first in the world in both production and sales for two consecutive years, is closely related to the rapid progress of domestic independent brand engine technology. As the blood flowing in the engine, the heart of the car, lubricating oil plays an important role in lubricating and reducing friction, cooling, cleaning, sealing against leaks, preventing rust and corrosion and damping vibration, so the industry has shifted its focus to the quality of lubricating oil, especially raising higher requirements in areas such as energy saving and consumption reduction.

In 2012 the lubricant industry will usher in a year of green transformation, and rational lubrication will become the general trend.
