For many years, China's national standard for diesel engine oil has adopted the API standard. In view of the characteristics of Chinese diesel engine technology, operating conditions and fuels, it is imperative to research and establish China's own diesel engine lubricating oil standard. The GB11122/D1 diesel engine oil specification, in the compilation of which Kunlun Lubrication participated, passed the standard review and was submitted for approval, thus changing the situation in which Chinese engine lubricating oil completely adopted foreign standards.
The D1 specification: China's first, independently developed
As the most frequently used automotive care product in vehicle maintenance, the quality of lubricating oil is crucial to daily vehicle use. With so many lubricating oil brands on the market, how does one judge which are good and which are bad? Most car owners choose based on brand awareness, but lubricating oil product lines also have their industry standards as a threshold.
D1 denotes the Chinese standard for heavy-duty diesel engine lubricating oil. In order to develop diesel engine lubricating oil that meets the lubrication needs of China's diesel engines and to promote China's lubrication industry from large to strong, in 2016 the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines, together with the Society of Automotive Engineers of China, the automobile and engine industry, the lubricating oil and additive industry and lubricating oil testing laboratories and other institutions, established the China Standard Development Innovation Alliance for Engine Lubricating Oil to carry out the development of the D1 standard for Chinese heavy-duty diesel engine lubricating oil. Thus the D1 specification standard came into being. The revision of the national standard for diesel engine oil added the GB11122/D1 diesel engine oil specification independently developed by China and passed the standard review and was submitted for approval, marking the birth of China's first independently innovated diesel engine oil national standard.
Kunlun Lubrication participated in the compilation of the D1 specification national standard
Kunlun Lubrication is the initiating unit of the China Standard Development Innovation Alliance for Engine Lubricating Oil and also the leader unit of the alliance's D1 diesel engine oil product standard working group, and it has always been committed to advancing the establishment of China's proprietary lubricating oil standard system.
On August 26, 2022, the Petrochemical Standardization Committee organized a seminar on the technical requirements of the D1 specification diesel engine oil within the national standard for diesel engine oil. More than 60 units, including Chinese diesel engine oil production, operation, use and regulatory units, as well as universities and research institutes, participated in the discussion, and Kunlun Lubrication was invited to attend.
In June 2023, the 14th standard review meeting of the product group of the Second Technical Committee on Petroleum Fuels and Lubricants was successfully held. The GB11122/D1 diesel engine oil specification national standard passed the standard review and was submitted for approval, marking the birth of China's first independently innovated diesel engine oil national standard, in the compilation of which Kunlun Lubrication participated.
Based on the D1 specification standard and actively promoted by the alliance and the Petrochemical Standardization Committee, the development of higher-level diesel engine lubricating oil standards and gasoline engine standards will continue steadily. Kunlun Lubrication will also continue to give play to its role as a mainstay of the lubrication industry and actively promote the establishment of China's proprietary lubricating oil standard system.
