Karamay Lubricant Plant Ranks First in Asia in Production Scale

On June 10, the trial run of the supporting renovation and expansion project for the 600,000-ton lubricant plant of Karamay Petrochemical Company, with a total investment of more than 200 million yuan, was successful. From then on, this lubricant blending facility with internationally advanced standards will replace the previous semi-automatic and semi-manual production equipment, taking the lubricant plant into fully automated production with an annual output that ranks first in Asia.
This 600,000-ton supporting renovation and expansion project is an important part of plans for PetroChina's million-ton lubricant production base and a key investment and construction project of the lubricant branch, as well as an indispensable supporting project for Karamay Petrochemical Company's high-pressure hydrogenation facility.
The renovation and expansion project built 54 new storage tanks, adding nearly 80,000 cubic meters of storage capacity, and introduced the world's advanced lubricant blending technologies, such as the ABB system (automatic batch blending system), the SMB system (synchronous metering blending system), the DDU system (automatic extraction system) and the automatic pigging and line-sweeping system. The project was designed for an annual scale of 600,000 tons, with actual production capacity reaching 800,000 tons a year.
Construction of this project began on September 18, 2006 and lasted nearly three years. During construction, the lubricant plant set up a project management office to provide whole-process tracking management of the project, and the entire project achieved zero accidents in safe construction and zero accidents in quality and safety.
