Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 China Car Performance Competition Concludes Successfully: Production Cars Take On Extreme Ice and Snow Cold

Breathing air of minus 30 degrees, getting in, pressing the accelerator, breaking through a thousand li of ice and speeding across ice-and-snow roads. On December 8, the Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 China Car Performance Competition (CCPC) officially began in Yakeshi, Hulunbuir. Amid the ice and snow, representative models from 85% of China’s mainstream auto brands gathered once again to fight in the “snow,” drawing a shining full stop at the end of this year’s CCPC schedule.
This round was held at China’s two most professional ice-and-snow proving grounds — the CATARC Hulunbuir Winter Automotive Proving Ground and the Bosch (Hulunbuir) Automotive Testing Technology Center. As the only domestic event that uses production cars as competition vehicles, the CCPC is hailed as the “Olympics of Chinese automobiles” for its comprehensiveness, accessibility and authority. This round is therefore undoubtedly the “Winter Olympics of the auto world,” with a venue so harsh, competition so intense and participation so enthusiastic that it can be called a cross-industry carnival of ice, snow and automobiles.

The climate at the circuit was extremely cold, while the atmosphere of the competition was red-hot. On top of the traditional technology group and the new energy vehicle group, this edition of the CCPC added the Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge, the “Luxgen All-New U6 Cup” China Good Racer and the Soueast Motor Media Elite Challenge — grassroots event groups even closer to the public. So how did the unmodified production cars, competing bare, perform amid the ice and snow? Here is the fresh, hot winners list:

The “nine-ball queen” visits the circuit in person to witness the birth of honors
To test vehicle performance in all respects, this edition of the CCPC was held in Karamay, Dafeng and Yakeshi respectively. Geographically they are located in the northwest, the eastern seaboard and the northeast, achieving a huge span in terms of region. The design is intended to test the performance and reliability of vehicles under different climate conditions more comprehensively. Representing the heat of Karamay, the high-performance testing of Dafeng and the extreme ice and snow of Yakeshi, tailored projects were set according to each location’s climate and test venue, including long-distance fuel economy, quietness, emergency braking and fixed-circle testing, assessing all aspects that daily car use may involve under different environments and providing the most authoritative reference for users’ car use and purchase.
The Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge is an event co-hosted by the organizer and Kunlun Lubricant and created specifically for the general public. Fifteen elite grassroots drivers selected level by level nationwide gathered in Yakeshi to compete in the venue time trial and team events. As the image ambassador of the Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge, “nine-ball queen” Pan Xiaoting visited the extreme-cold circuit in person and became the dazzling “Queen of Ice and Snow.”

Authoritative media broadcast the excitement, with multiple channels letting you watch and cheer
The Yakeshi round was broadcast in full via Sina, LeSports, Yizhibo and the “Belt and Road” all-media live platform, covering serpentine slalom, venue time trial and many other projects, and sparking heated discussion on WeChat, Weibo and other self-media platforms. Not only that, Kunlun Lubricant also made full use of local snow resources, building several ingenious snow sculptures at the circuit that drew crowds to gather and take photos, briefly stealing all the attention.
At this point, all three rounds of the Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 China Car Performance Competition were declared a successful conclusion. Afterwards, the much-anticipated coronation ceremony will be held shortly; who will take the annual crown? All will be revealed then.
