High-Altitude Racing Refreshes the Senses! Highlights Abound at the Kunming (Songming) Leg of the 2018 Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing

In golden October, most parts of northern China already feel distinctly the bleakness of the autumn wind, while Kunming in southwest China is still as gorgeous as spring. At this moment, a group of passionate racing enthusiasts are converging on this city, known as the pearl of the plateau, from all over the country to take part in the "2018 Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing" to be held on October 15.

Highlight 1: Challenging an altitude of two thousand metres, the King of Racing goes up to the plateau for the first time
The 2018 Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing about to unfold here is a category specially created by the China Car Performance Competition (CCPC), known as the "Olympics of China's auto industry", for its exclusive title sponsor Kunlun Lubricant. Unlike previous editions, the Kunming leg not only set a precedent for the CCPC to hold a car race at high altitude, but also became the "plateau debut" of the Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing.

Kunming's average altitude is above two thousand metres. For people from some plain areas, even slight exertion at this height can cause chest tightness and shortness of breath, and for amateur drivers going up to the plateau for the first time to take part in such a high-altitude, high-intensity race, it is an even greater challenge.
The amateur drivers taking part in the Kunming leg of the King of Racing were all lucky contestants previously selected from nationwide tryouts. After the intense competition of the Kunming leg qualifying rounds, the 10 qualifiers will take part in the final of the Kunming Songming Jialize leg, and the top three in that final will advance to Yakeshi together with the top three of the Yancheng (Dafeng) leg to compete for the annual "Kunlun King" crown.
Highlight 2: Simulating an F1 seat, the qualifying rounds refresh the racing experience
So that ordinary members of the public can also experience the thrill of track racing, this year's Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing carefully designed multiple tests in its schedule and competition rules. In the Kunming leg qualifying rounds, competitors first faced three stages of go-kart racing.

Because a go-kart has a very low chassis, the driver's perceived speed is two to three times the actual speed, which makes it highly competitive by nature, and it has always been called the "cradle of F1". Setting go-kart racing as the qualifying round of the King of Racing not only lets competitors experience the thrill of racing, but also fully tests their real driving skills, ensuring that those who reach the final are truly the best of the best.

To encourage competitors to pursue their dreams and challenge their limits, the event image ambassador, the "Queen of Nine-Ball" Pan Xiaoting, will also appear at the final of the Kunming Songming leg to flag off the race. Pan Xiaoting will also personally take to the track for a test drive to cheer on the competitors.
