as the only lubricant enterprise under PetroChina,
producing the first barrel of lubricant,
the first additive and the first grease,
and owning China’s earliest lubricant production base and additive R&D center.

In 1950, Kunlun Lubricant emerged at the Yumen Oilfield, producing the first drop of lubricant for New China. From the day it was born, this drop of oil bore the historical mission of lubricating China’s military, national defense and indeed the entire national economy and people’s livelihood.
In 1958, this drop of oil accompanied China’s first automobile into Zhongnanhai, and from then on it was bound to China’s auto industry, beginning a journey of mutual support through thick and thin.
1959: designated oil for the 10th anniversary National Day parade of the People’s Republic of China.
1970: supplied oil for the “Long March” series of launch vehicles.
1999: designated oil for the 50th anniversary National Day parade of the People’s Republic of China.
2004: Kunlun Lubricant supported Antarctic scientific expeditions, taking on the low-temperature limit. The expedition team was named the “China Antarctic Ice Sheet Kunlun Scientific Expedition Team.”
2006: all main transformers at the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant adopted Kunlun transformer oil, and tailor-made turbine oil was provided for it. Among these, the project “Development and application of naphthenic base oil series products” won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, First Prize, with the technology applied at the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant and in the 1000 kV and ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage transmission lines of key national projects. It is worth mentioning that the world’s most advanced power transmission projects, without exception, all use Kunlun transformer oil!
2009: became the designated oil for the 60th anniversary National Day parade.
2010: became the designated oil for the Shanghai World Expo.
2011: supplied oil for a “pillar of the nation” — the domestically built aircraft carrier.
2012: according to independent research by Nielsen, the world’s largest market research company, Kunlun Lubricant’s brand equity index ranked first among domestic lubricant brands, 42.8% higher than the second-ranked brand.
2014: launched the all-new “Kunlun Tianrun” series, a high-end gasoline engine oil created specially for passenger cars and a rich crystallization of PetroChina’s 68 years of lubricant research.
2015: robot grease independently developed by Kunlun Lubricant began practical use, breaking the technical barriers set by foreign enterprises in the field of robot industry grease, successfully achieving a leap in high-end technology and taking a solid step for the localization of China’s robot grease.
2016: fueled Chinese high-speed rail including “Fuxing” and “Blue Dolphin.” The high-speed EMU gearbox lubricant developed by Kunlun Lubricant became China’s first independently formulated oil, providing technical support for China’s high-speed rail in international bidding.
2017: supplied oil for the “Changji–Guquan ±1100 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current transmission project,” currently the world’s ultra-high-voltage transmission project with the highest voltage level, largest transmission capacity, longest transmission distance and most advanced technology.
Kunlun Lubricant has grown together with domestic wind power, supporting the localization of wind turbine oil and achieving the leap from Made in China to Created in China, advancing independent innovation and demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of a large central enterprise.
