Fake "Kunlun" Lubricants Manufactured in a Residential Courtyard

Yesterday, enforcement officers from the Economic Inspection Team of the Anning Branch of the Lanzhou Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce received a citizen's report that someone was processing counterfeit "Kunlun"-brand lubricant in a bungalow in an alley 200 metres south of the Wangfu Hotel in Liujiapu, Anning District. That evening at 6 p.m., officers from the Economic Inspection Team of the Anning Branch shut the counterfeiting operation down in one sweep.
At the scene, officers found 123 oil drums of 170 kg capacity, one air compressor, one drum of blue-and-white paint, five full drums of lubricant, 160 "Kunlun"-brand lubricant labels, four plastic decals bearing the Kunlun lubricant trademark and three stencil plates. Our reporter saw that the processing site covered about 200 square metres, where three workers were making "Kunlun" steel drums. The reporter then saw four filling nozzles stored in a room on the left side of the bungalow courtyard. A citizen who declined to be named said that, based on her covert observation, the operation had been producing counterfeit and shoddy "Kunlun" lubricants at that location for more than a year, processing, filling and selling as they went; to date more than 1,000 drums of fake Kunlun lubricant had been sold on the market.
According to officers of the Economic Inspection Team of the Anning Branch, when they arrived after receiving the report they found finished and semi-finished products stacked at the site. Officers have now seized all production tools as well as the finished and semi-finished products, and whether any refined oil reached the market is still under further investigation.
