Jin Donghan and His Delegation Visit Kunlun Lubricant's Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Centre

On September 2, 2020, Jin Donghan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines, chairman of the China Standard Development Innovation Alliance for Engine Lubricants (hereinafter referred to as the Innovation Alliance) and president of Tianjin University, together with Wang Shuxin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Tianjin University, and their delegation visited Kunlun Lubricant's PetroChina Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Centre (hereinafter referred to as the R&D Centre) in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, for an on-site investigation and held a discussion.
Li Shusheng, secretary-general of the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines and secretary-general of the Innovation Alliance; Li Xincai, deputy secretary-general of the Innovation Alliance; Tang Zhongping, deputy chief engineer of PetroChina Lubricant Company and director of the R&D Centre; and Xie Jingchun, Feng Zhenwen and Wang Zhengsheng, deputy manager, director and deputy director of the PetroChina Kunlun Lubricant Testing and Evaluation Centre; as well as relevant heads of the R&D Centre and of the Party Committee and President's Office and the Graduate School of Tianjin University, attended the discussion.
Jin Donghan and his delegation first visited the lubricant evaluation centre of the Lanzhou Lubricant Research and Development Centre, toured laboratories related to bench tests and learned about the latest research progress such as the development of bench test method standards. At the discussion, Wang Shuxin gave a comprehensive introduction to the development of Tianjin University and reviewed its cooperation projects with PetroChina and with companies in the lubricant field. Feng Zhenwen and Li Xincai reported respectively on the progress of independent lubricant specifications and on the overall progress of the Innovation Alliance's bench test work.
On behalf of Tianjin University, Jin Donghan expressed gratitude for PetroChina's strong support. He noted that Tianjin University has strong engineering strength and, in recent years, has adhered to the science and technology policy of "focusing on major national needs, focusing on the world's scientific and technological frontiers and taking root in the main battlefield of the national economy", comprehensively deepening industry-university-research cooperation. Tianjin University and PetroChina have close exchanges and cooperation, and he hoped to give full play to the comprehensive advantages of disciplines such as chemical engineering, machinery and materials, strengthen practical cooperation and make due contributions to raising the level of scientific and technological innovation in related fields. He also expressed thanks, on behalf of the Innovation Alliance, to the alliance's founding member, PetroChina Lubricant Company. He stressed that the development of Chinese lubricant standards is of great significance for enhancing Chinese enterprises' international voice and scientific and technological strength in this industry, and hoped that the R&D Centre's research team would make persistent efforts, seize the momentum and accelerate scientific research in related fields.
Li Shusheng said that the development of Chinese lubricant standards is a major matter for China's internal combustion engine industry and lubricant industry, and the test work has reached a critical stage. While pressing ahead with the development of test methods, the laboratories should complete the drafting of the draft standard for public comment as soon as possible. The secretariat of the Innovation Alliance will further strengthen coordination among the laboratories, give full play to its service and support role and provide strong support for the standard development work.
Tang Zhongping gave a detailed introduction to the innovative development of PetroChina Lubricant Company and the R&D Centre. He said he would further strengthen scientific and technological exchange and cooperation with Tianjin University, focus on top-level design for university-enterprise scientific research cooperation and advance practical cooperation between the two sides in various fields. At the same time, he said the R&D Centre would fully support the development of Chinese lubricant standards and make due contributions to the development of China's internal combustion engine and lubricant industries with solid results.
