From December 6 to 8, the closing round of the Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 China Car Performance Competition will be staged in “China’s hometown of ice and snow” — Yakeshi. Then, a battle of honor that has built up heat and passion across two rounds, from summer to winter and from south to north, will write its final chapter here.

The ultimate challenge of the Kunlun Lubricant Cup · 2017 CCPC is about to unfold. Based on the event’s requirements for an extremely cold environment, the organizing committee has set the venue in Yakeshi, a region that is a typical representative of extreme weather both domestically and globally; drivers will face the ultimate cold-weather test at the CATARC Yakeshi Winter Automotive Proving Ground and the Bosch Yakeshi Winter Test Center.
It is understood that the CATARC Hulunbuir Winter Automotive Proving Ground has a lake surface area of 1.1 million square meters and includes a vehicle winter ice-performance test ground, a vehicle winter road-performance test ground and test workshops. It can undertake and carry out projects such as technical regulation verification of complete vehicles and parts for automobiles and motorcycles, engine cold-start tests, SUV off-road durability tests and snow-spray tests. The Bosch Yakeshi Winter Test Center, moreover, sets the world’s highest standard — a world-class winter testing ground with superior facilities and equipment and an efficient, professional venue service team. In terms of test roads, Bosch can build highly customized competition roads for the event and carry out professional maintenance. Bosch’s unique TCS slope and land ABS track can meet the event’s professional competition needs. More importantly, the Bosch Yakeshi winter test tracks are integrated with the CATARC test tracks at Shangfeng Lake and Xiafeng Lake, which is very favorable for event organization and safety management. At that time the racers’ heroic bearing will be displayed here one by one, bringing everyone a different sensory experience.
The extreme cold environment places higher demands on vehicles, drivers’ driving skills and vehicle oil alike. As the only officially designated oil of the CCPC — Kunlun Lubricant — after the gobi high-temperature test at the first round in Karamay and the high-performance competition at the second round in Dafeng, will continue to escort the competing vehicles in the ultimate challenge at the high-cold venue.
Where will the “Ice and Snow King” fall? Top 15 racers brave the peak
The Kunlun Lubricant King of Racing Challenge newly added by the 2017 CCPC again has 15 grassroots racers bidding for the Yakeshi “Ice and Snow King” honor. As this year’s closing round, Yakeshi will further demonstrate the racers’ ability to cope with and control their cars in high-cold weather. This round is divided into two snow-specific events: individual time trial and serpentine slalom team competition. The individual time trial is further divided into an all-round competition and a lap time trial, both using a format of five drivers per group with multiple cars starting together; drivers drive through multiple corners and a circular track to the finish, over 1,000 meters and 600 meters respectively. Holding a competition in such extreme cold will be a great test of the competing vehicles’ power and handling and of the drivers’ driving skills.
After the race, CATARC will also join hands with Kunlun Lubricant to shoot characteristic tests in Yakeshi and organize a new lubricant testing white paper, covering tests of low-temperature cold starting, engine idle noise, 0–60 acceleration and medium-to-long-distance fuel economy, so that the public can understand the contribution of lubricants to production cars and see the differences among different oils.
