Aiming at the High End: Newly Formulated Kunlun Tianhong Diesel Engine Oil Launched

In recent years, as heavy truck commercial vehicle technology has advanced faster amid competition, engines have placed new demands on lubricants. In addition, increasingly stringent environmental standards have raised performance requirements for lubricants. To better meet the detergency requirements of modern large diesel engines with heavy loads and high piston temperatures, as well as the low-sulfur requirements imposed by environmental protection, PetroChina Lubricant Company, based on its insight into market demand, recently launched its newly formulated and upgraded Tianhong diesel engine oil series with independent intellectual property rights, which not only adapts to the times but also well addresses the current lubrication needs of heavy trucks. The newly formulated Kunlun Tianhong diesel engine oil series adds three grades, CH-4, CI-4 and CI-4+, on top of the original CF-4 and CD. Because the new formulation adopts a unique high-temperature detergent patent technology, the product has outstanding high-temperature detergency, can effectively inhibit high-temperature carbon deposits in engines and extend engine service life, and offers super-strong protection for heavy-duty truck engines running at high temperatures for long periods. In particular, it has excellent detergency for top ring groove carbon filling and top land heavy carbon deposits required by modern large diesel engines with heavy loads and high piston temperatures. It performs especially outstandingly in high-temperature zones, particularly in controlling heavy carbon deposits on the top ring land! The newly formulated Tianhong diesel engine oil series was designed specifically for the characteristics of heavy or extra-heavy loads and long periods of high-speed operation typical of commercial vehicles, and in combination with China's complex road conditions, so that it meets modern commercial diesel vehicles' requirements for diesel engine oil detergency and offers good local adaptability. The performance of the newly formulated Tianhong diesel engine oil products has also been verified through multiple bench tests, whose results prove that the new formulation Tianhong series diesel engine oils are far better than the required indicators in high-temperature detergency, soot dispersancy and thermal oxidation stability, and also offer good acid neutralization capacity, anti-wear and friction-reducing performance, good thermal stability, and a certain low-temperature dispersancy and antioxidant and anti-corrosion performance. Their use plays an important role in keeping engine interiors clean, reducing carbon deposits and extending engine life. Moreover, the fact that this series contains no sulfur makes the product fully compliant with environmental requirements. In addition, Kunlun Lubricant conducted joint road tests with automakers. A 16,000 km road test on four Foton heavy-duty trucks of Gansu Sanyun Logistics Company showed that the newly formulated Tianhong diesel engine oil products have better anti-wear performance than the reference oil. Bench tests of the new formulation Tianhong on Dongfeng engines and FAW Xichai National III engines also proved that the series performs outstandingly in piston detergency scoring, high-temperature oxidation resistance and sludge inhibition. In short, the newly formulated Tianhong diesel engine oil products, tailor-made for Chinese heavy-duty trucks, conform to the development direction of lubricants and to the requirements that modern engines, with their small size, high power, high operating temperatures and long oil drain intervals, place on lubricant detergents for better high-temperature detergency and stronger acid neutralization. Their launch is an important action by Kunlun Lubricant in practicing its concept of care and an important step in gradually upgrading the entire Kunlun diesel engine oil product line.
