A Glorious Decade, Kunlun Soars: Address on the Tenth Anniversary of PetroChina Lubricant Company

Ten years of striving, ten years of harvest. Under the leadership of China National Petroleum Corporation, the lubricant company has gone through a glorious ten-year course.

These ten years have brought hardship as well as joy. With great foresight, the group company established PetroChina Lubricant Company in 2000. In the market that China first opened to the outside world, Kunlun Lubricant competed side by side with strong domestic and international rivals and weathered the storms. In China's first market-oriented sea of competition, PetroChina Lubricant Company, as the first to try, grew and expanded because the Party Leadership Group of the group company grasped the correct course.

These ten years have brought efforts and also moving moments. From integrating various small enterprises to forming the Kunlun brand and then to capturing the high-end lubricant market with independent technology, its success has also come from the careful guidance of the business segment, the mutual support of sister units and the seamless cooperation of partner companies. Without many hands adding fuel, there would be no ever-growing flame of Kunlun Lubricant; without the trust and care of users, Kunlun Lubricant would not rank among the top nationwide in reputation, awareness and satisfaction.

These ten years have brought enterprise and even more gains. Over the decade, the company went from operating 90 percent of its business in bulk oil at the time of its formation to operating 95 percent in packaged oil today; from wholesaling base oils to supplying matching lubricants for well-known domestic and foreign automakers such as Volkswagen, General Motors, Dongfeng and Foton, as well as for the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, the Three Gorges Reservoir and Shanghai's ultra-high-voltage power transmission and transformation facilities; and from purchasing foreign formulations to devoting ten years of effort to independent R&D, forming a series of products with independent intellectual property rights covering internal combustion engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic oils, marine oils, military oils, nuclear power oils and transformer oils, and securing a firm foothold in China's lubricant market. This series of technology reserves also fills us with confidence in the future. Such effort and confidence come from the wisdom and hard work of all Kunlun Lubricant employees.

After ten years of struggle, Kunlun Lubricant has built a brand of its own. As independent lubricant technology continues to be enriched and improved, we believe that an even better future lies ahead. Guided by the group company's grand blueprint for the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, the people of Kunlun Lubricant will meet market competition with greater passion, higher morale and more solid steps, and achieve even greater glory.
