On June 28, the “China Petroleum Open Day—Visit Kunlun Lubricant Garden Factory” event was held. With the theme “Green Technology Leads the Way to a Better Lubricated Life,” the event invited government departments, media reporters, partners, and others to visit the Chengdu Branch of Kunlun Lubricant, jointly witness Kunlun Lubricant’s new journey of staying true to its original aspiration and forging ahead with determination, gain an in-depth understanding of Kunlun Lubricant’s low-carbon and environmentally friendly technologies, and experience the green factory up close.

“More than ten years ago, when the Chengdu Branch was first established, creating harmonious coexistence between people and nature had already become one of the pursuits of us Kunlun people.” Led by staff, everyone visited the Chengdu Branch’s production facilities, production control system, product testing center, product filling site, and other areas, gaining an up-close look at Kunlun Lubricant’s advanced testing system, strict quality control processes, and scientific, rigorous modern production technology and production lines. According to the staff, from the arrival of base oils and additives at the plant, through fully automated blending and packaging production lines, to multiple strict quality inspections, high-quality lubricant products are ultimately produced through lean management while ensuring the safe and stable operation of the equipment.

During the open day, the Kunlun Lubrication Green Development Report was officially released. Zhou Yuxue, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Kunlun Lubrication’s Chengdu Branch, said that for a long time, Kunlun Lubrication has vigorously implemented a green and low-carbon development strategy, continuously increased its efforts in research and development, actively introduced low-carbon and emissions-reduction products, promoted packaging reduction, formulated travel emissions standards, and focused on advocating and practicing the principle of “protecting lush mountains and lucid waters.” It is making every effort to create high-quality green and low-carbon products with excellent quality, providing lubrication services for Chinese manufacturing, high-end equipment, and key core technologies.
As one of the “national teams” in the field of lubricants, Kunlun Lubrication has contributed to the energy transition and low-carbon emissions reduction through the research, development, and application of multiple technologies: Its wind power gear oil broke the monopoly and has been applied to megawatt-level wind turbines; its special oil for nuclear power became the installation oil for the “Guohe No. 1” demonstration project, contributing to the localization of third-generation nuclear power technology; it successfully entered the Wudongde Hydropower Station project, breaking the long-standing monopoly of foreign brands in high-power hydropower units; its transformer oil undertook the supporting task for ultra-high-voltage power transmission projects and won recognition from customers at home and abroad; its independently developed premium special-purpose engine oil for methanol engines performs excellently in such areas as base retention and environmentally friendly formulation, providing technical support for the promotion of methanol vehicles; the newly upgraded Kunlun Tianrun and Kunlun Tianhong series products are low-carbon and environmentally friendly, helping save energy and reduce emissions; at the end of 2021, Kunlun Lubrication established and received recognition for the Key Laboratory of Low-Carbon Energy Conservation and High-End Lubrication in China’s Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and actively carried out applied basic research in the fields of low-carbon energy conservation and high-end lubrication.
Collaborate and advance together to promote green development
During the Open Day event, Kunlun Lubricants engaged in extensive exchanges with customer representatives and partners and held in-depth discussions on future green and low-carbon development directions. Since the “Dual Carbon” goals were proposed, Chinese enterprises have been advancing rapidly toward green development. On June 5, 2022, PetroChina officially released the “PetroChina Green and Low-Carbon Development Action Plan 3.0.” In accordance with the overall three-step deployment of “clean substitution, strategic substitution, and green transformation,” PetroChina strives to become a backbone force in achieving China’s “Dual Carbon” goals and ensuring energy security. Kunlun Lubricants will actively implement the Group’s Green and Low-Carbon Development Action Plan 3.0 and, together with customers and partners, adhere to green and low-carbon practices in research and development, production, sales, and services; vigorously produce green products; promote green packaging and waste oil recycling; drive the energy transition; establish a new benchmark for “green and low-carbon” lubricants; and achieve high-quality green and low-carbon development.
