Lanzhou R&D Center Attends the 2010 National Symposium on Youth Tribology and Industrial Applications

The "2010 National Symposium on Youth Tribology and Industrial Applications" was held in Hangzhou from August 15 to 17. Four technical staff from the Lanzhou R&D Center of PetroChina Lubricant Company attended the conference and held in-depth exchanges with other participants.
Delegates attending the conference came from universities, research institutions and enterprises across the country engaged in tribology research and industrial applications, totaling more than 330 people. The theme of the conference was "New Progress in Tribology Theory and New Tribology Technologies and Their Engineering Applications," with topics covering lubrication theory and design, micro- and nano-tribology, lubricants and additives, friction, wear and condition monitoring, biological and bionic tribology, and surface science and engineering.
PetroChina Lubricant Company attaches great importance to participating in academic exchanges in the field of tribology. At this conference, six academic papers from the R&D Center were accepted, and four technical staff attended on site. During the conference, Dr. Li Jiusheng gave an academic report titled "Current Status and Trends of Domestic Lubricant Additives" at the tribology materials sub-forum; engineer Zhang Li presented a technical report on "Research on the Friction-Reducing Performance of a New Type of Borate Ester Lubricant Additive"; Dr. Wang Yuxin gave an academic report titled "Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM): A Means for Characterizing Grease Structure" at the industrial technology sub-forum; and engineer Qiu Jianwei, drawing on his own research work, discussed with participants the "Friction-Reducing Performance of Benzotriazole Derivatives in Hydrotreated Oil."
Additives are key to ensuring lubricant products and represent the core technology of lubricant formulations, and their R&D work has long drawn the attention of many research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad. R&D staff actively taking part in academic conferences and exchange activities in this field helps them understand new developments and trends in tribology and lubricants and promotes the progress of research work.
