Tip 1: The first step is dilution. Washer fluid bought off the shelf generally needs to be diluted before use; simply follow the instructions in the manual.
Tip 2: Note the washer fluid capacity. The washer fluid capacity of a car is about 1.5 L, so a container of 1.25 L to 1.5 L is suitable for mixing diluted washer fluid. ● Test environment
Because we were challenging the freezing point of washer fluid, we needed to find equipment capable of reaching that temperature. ● Test vessels
The testers tested each product using a refrigerated constant-temperature chamber. Because ordinary glass test tubes cannot withstand such low temperatures in the test environment, plastic centrifuge tubes were chosen for the experiments; since this plastic centrifuge tube is fairly close to the washer fluid reservoir used in our vehicles, the centrifuge tube was finally selected as the container.
● Test process
First, samples of Kunlun Star washer fluid were taken. Testing began at -10 °C, because the highest rated temperature of the Kunlun Star high-efficiency washer fluid tested here is -10 °C, and the test was then carried out at the rated temperature, held for 30 minutes. Some friends may feel that freezing for only 30 minutes is too short a time; in fact, they had carried out the same experiment several years earlier, when each product was frozen for only 10 minutes, and non-conforming products froze within those 10 minutes. Moreover, according to the laboratory staff, a liquid of this volume can stabilize within 30 minutes, so 30 minutes is long enough.
When the test time was up, the centrifuge tubes were taken out to check the state of the samples: if freezing had occurred or was about to occur, the sample was regarded as non-conforming; otherwise it passed. Automotive washer fluid nozzles cannot spray a solid-liquid mixture or a solid, so washer fluid must remain liquid; the requirement for the test samples was therefore that they remain liquid at the rated temperature, and if a solid-liquid mixture or freezing appeared, they were regarded as non-conforming.
