As early as 2006 Kunlun Lubricant cooperated with the Jichai Power General Plant of CNPC and, in response to the characteristics of gas engine oil lubrication needs, developed and produced stationary gas engine oil and dual-fuel engine oil; in 2011 Kunlun Lubricant, together with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, initiated the establishment of the Automotive Lubricant Research Joint Laboratory, focusing on the research and development of lubricant products for new energy vehicles (electric vehicles) and committed to the generation and market application of independent innovation achievements.
Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, said at the 'Ministers' Corridor' that China's new energy vehicles have entered a growth period, that new energy vehicles represent the direction of industrial adjustment, and that this year is expected to see growth of more than double last year's figure. New energy vehicles have moved from the cultivation period that began in 2009 into a growth period today. Last year production and sales exceeded 300,000 units, showing a trend of rapid growth over the previous year. 'Because more and more enterprises and products are joining the ranks of market competition, and national policy has all along encouraged the development of new energy vehicles, the momentum will only get better.'
